about wmr livestock

I grew up on my parents’ angus ranch in Gallatin Gateway, Montana. As a young ranch kid, I spent my days feeding cows, helping during calving season, and later as a teenager helped fence and farm with my dad.

In 2000, my parents bought land in Whitehall, Montana. They moved their operation there, and I began working side-by-side with my dad as we developed and grew the new ranch.

I became increasingly interested in digging deeper into some of the cattle-raising philosophies I had been learning from my father, like allowing the environment to tell you about the cattle versus EPDs.

In 2015, my wife Erin and I launched our own venture. Together, we settled at the south ranch where we began to alter our herd, changing our calving date and continuing to explore and expand upon the philosophies that I had grown so passionate about.

Erin and I enjoy ranching in a more traditional way, with horses over four-wheelers, which collaborates perfectly with Erin’s passion for horses. This traditional way of ranching promotes proper handling of the animals by easing the stress on the cows and allowing the horses the opportunity to work. Our cattle are pastured in the mountains until it is time to collect data. We feel this allows us to be more in touch with the animals and appreciate their qualities as well as fulfill proper stewardship of the land.

We enjoy ranching and love our animals along with our two children, Rylee and Blake. We are passionate about raising a quality product in a family-friendly environment, as we have cultivated our philosophies.
